Clarington Honda recently hosted the 3rd Bowmanville Cub Pack. Service technician Jeremy Killin has been a Pack Leader in Bowmanville for the last four years, and has been actively involved with Scouts since 2000.
The cubs got a full tour of the facility, had an up close look and explaination of some of the Honda automotive technology, and even got to sit on some of the new models.

Building a brand new facility gave dealer Chuck Clayton the opportunity to incorporate many new, energy efficient technologies to reduce the dealership's carbon footprint.
 
The three acres of parking lot around the building was graded using recycled concrete, instreat of newly mined gravel. A white roof was installed on the building instead of the normal black tar roof, so as to minimize the reflection of heat back into the atmosphere. Low 'e' glass, and energy efficient light, heating and cooling systems were installed, as was a system of multi-zone thermostats, so that at any given time only those parts of the building that are being used, are heated or cooled. We also installed double sets of light switches throughout, so that the lighting in the building can be adjusted according to what is required.
 
Many of the internal systems were also chosen with energy efficiency and a reduction of resources used in mind. All training for our staff is on-line, and we have just moved to an on-line brochure system. We have an ongoing campaign to gather email addresses from our customers, all of this being so as to minimize the amount of paper that goes out. We capture and recycle all used motor oil and other automotive fluids, tires, and the crating and cardboard that our products are delivered in. We installed a system whereby we inflate the tire on our vehicles with nitrogen instead of oxygen. This is because nitrogen, being a more stable gas than oxygen, is not subject to the same expansion and contraction due to fluctuating temperature that occurs when a tire is inflated with air. This significantly reduces tire wear and increase gas mileage.

The weather was perfect, the crowd was rev'd and FMX Freestyle Champion Jason Thorne was ready to show off the skills, talent and nerve that has earned him the nickname Airbourne Thorne.
